Abstract

This review presents information on the First Vaulin Readings, held at Kaliningrad University on September 29–30, 2025. It evaluates the conference proceedings (an electronic publication comprising 27 articles and 241 PDF pages) in terms of thematic diversity, the issues addressed, and methodological approaches and preferences. The review highlights a memorial section that assesses the work and personality of S.S. Vaulin as a scholar, an organizer of scientific activity, and a mentor to researchers; this portrait is further enriched by the recollections of colleagues and students. Overall, the publication by Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (IKBFU) provides a comprehensive overview of the current state and quality of research on modality and demonstrates the high academic standard of the included articles.
